Assistant Professor, Biological Sciences

Christa is a neuroscientist interested in the structure, function, and evolution of sensory circuits. She holds a B.S.E in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation she worked as a research technician in the lab of Dr. David Ryugo at Johns Hopkins University, where her interests in sensory systems first developed. During her PhD with Dr. Bruce Carlson at Washington University in St. Louis, she studied electric communication signal detection in weakly electric fishes. As a postdoc with Dr. Mala Murthy at Princeton University, she investigated the neural and genetic basis of acoustic communication behaviors in fruit flies. Outside the lab, Christa can be found wrangling any combination of her toddler, baby, dog, and husband.
