Undergraduate Honors research assistant

Breyton is currently an undergraduate student pursuing a major in Genetics (BS). Breyton had genetics research experience within plant biology but through taking a course in neurobiology became more interested in the neuroscience side of genetics. Dr. Baker’s lab introduced her to acoustic communication in Drosophila as Breyton works to identify P1 neurons across different species as well as studying courtship behaviors. She hopes to pursue her PhD after graduating from NC State. In her free time, Breyton is a part of Raleigh Wesley, a campus ministry, and the NC State Genetics Club.
